Artist’s Bio.

J Vee is a fine arts photographer with a unique background as a physician and is a board certified anatomic and clinical pathologist. His rigorous scientific training and years of experience have resulted in a remarkable facile and transparent utilization of the most sophisticated photographic tools. Passion for his art and early training with Paul Capinigro, Ansel Adams, Lucien Clergue, and Cole Weston, among other greats, have resulted in a truly remarkable way of seeing. His images explore the edges of reality, inevitably resulting in a truly mystical and recognizable quality.

J Vee works in both monochrome and color using whatever image capture tool is most appropriate for the situation, from 35 mm to an 11" x 14" view camera. However, he finds the naturally contemplative and analytical qualities of the large formats generally most suited to his way of working. J Vee is considered a master printer and personally prints each image, utilizing whatever technique is appropriate for the photographic image including the standard archival Silver method, microthermal on 100% rag paper, and traditional Carbon on watercolor paper.

His workshops draw participants from throughout the United States and his work is in a number of private and public collections (including the Art Institute of Chicago). He is author of a number of articles in respected national photographic publications.
