How are these prints made? These images generally begin as a “magic moment” for me, a gift of light, in a certain place and time which resonates with my personal vision. Image capture is usually by an ultra large view camera (11” X 14” negative) for its unsurpassed capabilities. I do all processes myself including development of these large BW or Color sheets of film. Some images are printed by the very old Carbon method (see Traditional Carbon). Others are drum scanned and processed digitally. These are printed on rag watercolor paper or canvas, utilizing a fine arts microthermal printer. I use this very expensive printer and a great deal of experience to reproduce paintings for select watercolor, acrylic, and oil painters so I think you can imagine the exceptional quality of the print. This printer produces an amazing combination of 512 chromatic changes with approximately 10 million color possibilities of highly saturated, nontoxic water-based ink. My high resolution drum scanning and the ultra-sophisticated large format printer gives each image the vibrant, lush, and luminous results of an original watercolor with detail found only in an original photographic print. This unusual combination of techniques allows many of these prints to also be available in mural size, a truly breathtaking vision. The finished print is on 100% rag paper and protected by applying an extra strength UV coating, as well as mounted and matted on acid free board, to insure museum quality standards for the collector. The limited edition is hand signed and numbered by the artist on the front of the piece. Most images are limited editions available as 5”X7”, 11”X14”, 20”X24”, all in archival standard sized mats. Many are available in custom sizes and true mural size(to 48” X 60”) for maximum beauty and impact for businesses and institutions, especially hospitals. |
